Countertop Water Distiller Appliance TImer
This simple to use, heavy duty appliance timer works great with any of our countertop water distillers. It is rated at 1800watts and has two grounded outlets, one that is timed, and one that is not. The addition of the timer has many benefits when distilling water, or essential oils and alcohol with the still. This is easy to use, comes complete with directions, and is sure to save you money in the long run.
Why use a timer with my distiller?
Countertop water distillers are designed with a thermostat to automatically turn the units off when most of the water has boiled out of the unit. While this design is safe, smart, and standard, it is not always desirable. Here is why.
When Distilling Water:
When distilling water the distiller is preset to distill all the water you pour into the unit, which means that depending on how bad your water is, you are left with a large amount of minerals that are concentrated in a small amount of water. This makes cleaning tougher and can even be harder on the distiller boil chamber. By using a timer you can control how long the unit runs and how much water is left in the boil chamber at the end of the cycle, thus lessening the concentration of mineral build-up and making your clean-up easier.
When Distilling Essential Oils or Alcohol:
It is essential when using the Megahome Still for essential oils or alcohol that you do not let the distiller run the complete cycle as you would for water. For this application the timer is indispensable to protect your unit and materials you are distilling. While it may be that essential oil or alcohol distillation will require you to monitor the progress, the timer is a nice back-up in case you forget.
